Engine 91 (Main Page)

Welcome to the home page for the Town of Clay Engine 91 program.  This page is used to communicate the origins of the Town of Clay (TOC) Engine 91 program, a high level overview of how the program works, as well as resources and links for the day-to-day operation of the program.

Birthed out of an idea from past Moyers Corners Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Wisely, the program was further developed by the three “core” Town of Clay Fire Departments (Clay FD, North Syracuse FD, and Moyers Corners FD), operating procedures were drawn up, and the program was successfully launched in March of 2001.

Although an Engine 91 is not always in service on any given day, the program does provide a way to have a staffed daytime duty Engine Company that can respond to alarms in any of the three response districts, both Fire related and EMS related, between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.  The Engine either runs as one normally assigned to a particular “box”, or it is running in addition to the existing “box” response, never running in place of another unit.  Staffing for the TOC Engine 91 consists of a minimum of four SCBA qualified firefighters.  The firefighters must be from at least two of the three departments, and the Engine is staffed at one of four fire stations located within the Town of Clay:

  • Clay Headquarters on Route 31
  • Moyers Corners Station 2 on Morgan Road

  • Moyers Corners Station 3 on Henry Clay Blvd
  • North Syracuse Station 1 on Chestnut Street
Guests or firefighters from fire departments other than the three core fire departments are encouraged to participate provided they meet the necessary requirements contained herein.
