Moyers Corners Fitness Committee
Firefighting is a rewarding but demanding activity. It is demanding mentally, emotionally and especially physically.The Moyers Corners fitness committee was established with our firefighters' health in mind and is committed to encouraging our firefighters' by offering ample opportunities to increase knowledge, awareness, and support for activities that will improve their safety and longevity.
Too often do we see the results of poor physical conditioning on the fire ground manifested in tragic line of duty deaths. To avoid these from happening to our own, the fitness committee has started the process of planning and developing our knowledge center with publications from trusted medical sources such as the American Heart Association, and cookbooks allowing for healthy eating and diet education. Our awareness initiative is developing events such as cholesterol checkups so our firefighters are attentive to their current physical state. And to support our firefighters the fitness committee has implemented a pedometer contest and is generating more contests based on physical activity, researching benefits for gym memberships, and planning physical activity events to build firefighter efficiency and safety.
The fitness committee cannot achieve its goals without the help of the firefighters it is there to support, so please check back for news, events, and benefits as our page develops and stay safe and healthy.
