The Town of Clay Fire Training Facility
The Town of Clay Fire Training Facility was conceived in 1992 by Chief Joe Rienfierd - Clay Fire Department, Chief Greg Tiner - Moyers Corners Fire Department, and Chief Pat Brennan - North Syracuse Fire Department.
Since 1992, there were several redesigns of the structure. The first design of the facility cost in excess of $700,000. The departments could not, nor could the community afford this cost. Members of the three departments went to work on redesigns.
Additionally, the Chiefs asked for financial assistance by the State of New York to help fund the cost of the facility. As always, Mike Bragman our local State Assemblyman from the 118th Assembly District answered our call for help and was able to secure funds for the facility. Without the funds, the fire training facility was only to be a dream.
It has been a long road with many ups and downs, however it shows that teamwork is the answer. The Clay Fire Department has given up much of their land to house the facility, their station for a classroom, and their funds. It is not often that departments can put aside their differences and work as one. So the true dream happened... the departments are now working closer then ever.
