Another session of the Town of Clay Combined Rookie class concluded on 1/30/04 with the graduation of 14 rookie volunteer firefighters. Art Pluta from Brewerton FD; Jeremy Warren from Caughdenoy FD; Marty McMahon, Chris Olson, and Jeff Romanick from Clay FD; Matt Buss, Morgan Dair, Greg Eager, Carl Graves, Ed Haaxma, Ryan Hodson, and Fred Sears from Moyers Corners FD; Joszef Asztalos and Brendan Hind from North Syracuse FD all graduated and will now join their fellow firefighters as Interior Structural Firefighters. This program involved both classroom and challenging practical sessions totalling 100 hours and resulting in certification for Basic Firefighter, Intermediate Firefighter, and Firefighter Survival. The graduates were the guests of honor at a graduation dinner, were awarded their training certificates, and were then congratulated by their chiefs and instructors. In addition to receiving important training, the new graduates now have new friends in their surrounding fire departments.
