Rapid Intervention Team-RIT Training for Hinsdale FD

On Tuesday night 02/03/2004, Moyers Corners FD was requested to demonstrate the operations of the Rapid Intervention Team-RIT to the Hinsdale Fire Department members. Members from Battalion 3 reviewed Standard Operating Procedure-SOPs currently used by MCFD RIT teams including Emergency Radio Communication SOP. Once the RIT concept was reviewed a demonstration of all tools/equipment carried was shown along with actual hands on training for the Hinsdale members.

Hinsdale FD chiefs have requested additional training from MCFD in the near future to enhance the Hinsdale FD RIT response.

In all this was a very productive night of training for both departments, each member from MCFD demonstrated an aspect of the RIT responsibility or demonstrated the proper use of tools/equipment carried, and the Hinsdale FD knows additional and continuous training is needed to ensure firefighter safety on the fire ground for any district the respond into.
