All Hands House Fire
Aug 18, 2005 - 12:00 am
Moyers Corners F.D. was dispatched to a report of smoke coming from the house on the corner of Elaine Circle and Oakwood Drive at 1710 hrs on Wednesday August 17th. Callers to 911 reported smoke coming from the windows and vents of a house near this intersection. The structural box also dispatched Clay Engine 21, Baldwinsville R-6 for RIT, and Liverpool Squad 3 (computer error). Moyers Corners Car 2 arrived within minutes of dispatch to find heavy smoke coming from the windows and the eaves on all sides of a 2 story raised ranch. No fire was showing, but there was active fire in the ground level of the structure so Car 2 signaled a "98 for now" and took the command. Engine 41 (F/F Goodson) came in dry at Command's request due to the unique hydrant layout in the neighborhood. Engine 41's crew advanced a 1 3/4" line to the front door and proceeded to make a hit as Truck 2 (Capt. Naum) arrived and prepared to go to the roof. Engine 11 (F/F K. Wisely) established the primary water supply by performing a reverse lay from E-41 to the nearest hydrant on Hemlock Circle. A second crew from Truck 2 performed searches of both floors with negative results. A second line was pulled by Engine 21's crew (F/F Turiello) at the request of the Interior Sector (B/C Race) but were held at the door. The quick attack by E-41 and the vertical ventilation by Truck 2 held the fire to the utility room on the ground level. Command held the fire at a "Signal 98- all hands working". Other units operating on scene:
Battalion 1 (B/C Stevens)- Safety Sector
Engine 31 (Lt. Izzo)- secondary water, utilities

Rescue 4 (Capt. Crispin)- staging
Ladder 1 (F/F Byer)- staging
