At 1945 on Sept. 02, 2005 Belgium Cold Springs, Liverpool Station 3 and Baldwinsville FD's were activated for a reported fire at 3088 High Rd. Initial reports indicated a possible working fire with a structural collapse and an elderly male resident possibly trapped. Police arrived and reported a working fire and again reported an occupant trapped. While en-route, BCSFD C-1 special called MCFD E-11, which went en-route at 1951 hours with a five man crew. Engine E-11 (FF Fedorich) was second due behind B'ville E-1 and stretched a 1 3/4" line to side 3. An aggressive interior attack was made with E-11 splitting its crew to also perform a primary search (FF Schweitzer/FF Arnold). The bulk of the fire was knocked down and Schweitzer and Arnold rescued a small dog from the structure. After calling a knock down, the building was briefly evacuated due to approx. 16 small O2 cylinders that were found in the fire room and were noted to be leaking and venting.
Liverpool's RIT team handled this hazard and crews returned to work. Thankfully, the occupant was not home at the time of the fire contrary to original reports. MCFD E-11 returned to service after standing by at BCSFD Station 2 after being released from the scene at 2145.
