Aug 08, 2007 - 11:08 am
On Monday, August 6, 2007, the volunteers from Moyers Corners provided 4 companies to a 4 plus alarm fire in the Village of Baldwinsville.  Units from Moyers Corners responded as follows to the multi-alarm fire:

E12 (Lt. Perkins) responded on the 2nd alarm with the initial assignment of providing horizontal ventilation on the “A” side.  After clearing the rehab sector, the E12 crew was assignment to the “C” side with the assignment of ventilation.  Due to changing conditions, that assignment was quickly changed to fire suppression.  After another rehab stint, the crew was again assigned to manpower where they staged until further assignments could be given.  The E12 crew returned to service at 12:30.

E41 (FF Goodson) also responded on the 2nd alarm assignment as the R.I.T. company.  On arrival, the crew was assigned to the “A-B” corner as the R.I.T. Company.  The crew continued with their assignment for over 3 hours until they were assigned horizontal ventilation of the “B” exposure.  Their R.I.T. assignment was subsequently filled by the arriving companies.  Once their assignment was completed, the company was sent to manpower and subsequently returned to service.

TK 2 (Capt. Driscoll) responded on the 3rd alarm dispatch and took side “A” and was originally assigned vertical ventilation.  Vertical ventilation consisted of 5 layers of various roofing materials (paper, sand, rocks, metal, concrete), all of which took several saws and blades to complete.  During the roof operations, the truck crew also threw (2) 35’, (2) 28’, (1) 20’ roof ladder, and (1) 16’ roof ladder to all levels on side “A” of the fire building and side “A” of the “B” and “D” exposures.  After the roof assignment, the truck with the assistance of the Fairmount truck company performed horizontal ventilation of the “B” exposure.  The crew was then sent to rehab before returning to perform salvage operations of the “D” exposure.  The TK2 crew returned to service at 14:45 hours.

R3 (Capt. Goldberg) responded on the 4th alarm dispatch and was assigned R.I.T. on the entire “C” side of the block.  They also performed several duties in connection with the Baldwinsville Truck Company on side “C”.  R3 returned to service at 13:30 hours.

Moyers Corners Car 3 (D/C Neuman) responded to assist MCFD crews on the fire ground.  The Chief was also assigned the Safety sector during the alarm.
