2007-2008 MCFD Bunk-Ins - Training Week

     On Sunday August 29^th,  2007,  the Moyers Corners Fire Department welcomed nine Onondaga Community College fire protection students from 7 different fire departments to their student bunk-in program. The Bunk-In program has been a success for over 8 years. The 2007-2008 bunk-ins participated in an intensive week of training to prepare themselves for operations with the MCFD. The week started out with a luncheon with the student’s families, giving the parents a chance to meet the Chief and the bunk-in coordinators. 

     After the luncheon the bunk-ins began their week of  training with a class on kitchen cleanliness and blood borne pathogens.  That was followed later that week by a breathe-down drill with mask confidence, basic engine and truck company operations, vehicle extrication, firefighter safety, and SOP.

      On Friday, with the coordination of head bunk-in coordinator Greg Shaffer, the Bunk-ins enjoyed a fulfilling day of team-building at Big Dons Wild River Mini Golf. The bunk-ins where able to enjoy a day of miniature golf, maze navigation, rock wall climbing, and lunch outside the fire department environment.
