Saturday March 21st, 10:00am.
The Moyers Corners Fire Department was alerted to a possible structure fire at the China Wong Restaurant at Bayberry Plaza in the Battalion 2 Response Area. Battalion 2 [Bressette] arrived first and indicated there was a heavy smoke condition in the restaurant.
Car 2 [Race] arrived and established command. Battalion 1 [Crispin] arrived and assumed the interior sector. Battalion 2 [Bressette] handled the operations. Rescue 4 [Lt. Zaferakis] arrived, split their crew into four teams, and gained entry on Side A of the restaurant. Ladder 1 [Capt. Shaffer] set up on Side A and prepared for roof operations. Engine 21 [Capt. Izzo] brought in a hydrant and stretched a line to the restaurant. Engine 11 [Lt. Schweitzer] arrived and positioned on Side C. Engine 41 [FF Filow] secured a second hydrant while their crew assisted Engine 21 with the second handline. A significant smoke condition was found in the restaurant. Rescue 4's crew gained entry into an adjacent store through Side D and also started to overhaul within China Wong Restaurant. The rescue company also investigated the other adjacent stores Battalion 3 [Dembowski] covered the safety officer assignment. The fire suppression system in the restaurant effectively controlled the initial fire. Rescue 3 [Lt. Izzo] filled the RIT assignment. Truck 2 [Capt. Brown] staged on Side D. Truck 2, Engine 31, and Battalion 3 also responded to a fire alarm activation on Steelway North during the investigation of the reported fire at Bayberry Plaza. All units were in service within an hour.
