The Moyers Corners Fire Department was alerted to a reported structure fire on Mallard Path in the Battalion Two response area. Battalion 1 [Crispin] arrived with heavy smoke showing from the front of the residence. He then assumed the operations sector. Battalion 3 [Dembowski] arrived and established the incident command. Battalion 2 [Bressette] was the incident safety officer. Engine 21 [Lt. Driscoll] and Engine 41 [Lt. Zaferakis] arrived almost simultaneously. Engine 21 positioned just past the structure while Engine 41 brought up the hydrant. Engine 21 was able to "hand-jack" back to 41 to establish a continuous water supply. Engine 21's crew stretched an 1 3/4" handline to the second floor. Engine 41 brought in the 2" handline, but was diverted to interior truck company work as ceilings and walls needed to be exposed. Truck 2 [Cpt. Izzo] positoned on "Side A" of the residence and prepared for roof work. Their crew successfully opened up the roof in numerous locations. Rescue 3 [Cpt. Lyons] assisted with overhaul and suppression on the second floor as heavy fire was located in the attic space by interior crews. A signal 99 was then struck by Command. An aggressive and coordinated attack by the first arriving crews kept the fire confined to the attic area. Ladder 1 [Lt. Klem] assisted Truck 2 on the roof sector. Engine 31 [FF Herrick] assisted with overhaul. Mutual Aid was received from Liverpool Truck 2 and an Engine Company from North Syracuse. Units were picking up within an hour and a half from dispatch.
