MCFD Welcomes the 2009 Fall Semester Bunk-Ins
Sep 05, 2009 - 11:18 am

On Sunday August 30th, 2009, The Moyers Corners Fire Department welcomed eight Onondaga Community College student bunk-ins to the department. Four bunk-ins returned from the previous year to lead a group of four very eager first year students. After moving in to their respective stations, a luncheon was held at Station 2 with the bunk-ins, their families, and members of the fire department. A very intensive training week followed the next day that included an SCBA breathe down, mask confidence course, engine company operations, truck company operations, rescue company operations, fire ground safety, and hazardous materials. The bunk-ins also learned MCFD standard operating procedures, EMS protocols and procedures, scene safety, and personal cleanliness.

Second year bunk-in students are Trevor Goodenough from the Cassville Fire Department in Oneida County, Charlie Hess from the Northside Fire Department in Ontario County, Josh Murphy from Webbs Mills Fire Department in Chemung County, and Keith Wadsworth from Keene Fire Department in Essex County.

First year bunk-in students are Sam Colburn from the Manchester Fire Department, Donny Hess from the Northside Fire Department in Ontario County, Ryan Pidgeon from the Franklin Fire Department in Otsego County, and Kyle Thompson from the West Monroe Fire Department in Oswego County.

From the 2009 Fall Semester Bunk-Ins:
The bunk-ins would like to thank a special group of firefighters and instructors who made the adjustment from our first day to now as painless as possible. Past Chief Chet Fritz, Past Deputy Chiefs Bud Neuman and Steven Wisely, Lieutenants Bob Driscoll and Steve Zaferakis, Firefighters Mitch Goldberg, Pat Herrick, Mike Hoosock, Fred Sears, and Steve Wisely, and Onondaga County Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Cowburn.
