Moyers Corners Station 3 Ends 2009 With a Working Fire in Mattydale

On December 30 2009 at approximately 1625 hrs Moyers Corners Rescue 3 was requested to a possible fire in the Mattydale Fire District. MCFD Car 2 (DC S. Race) and Rescue 3 (Lt. Izzo). As Rescue 3 pulled out of the station a thick black cloud of smoke could be seen it the distance.
Shortly after upon arrival of the first Mattydale Chief, a signal 99 was transmitted.
Rescue 3 arrived took up RIT responsibilities. Lt J. Izzo did a "360" of the 1 story ranch and found that there was an incomplete deck and a propane gas grill in the rear of the house. Command was also alerted to a live down power line in the front yard. Safety cones were placed around the area of the downed power line.
After the fire was extinguished, RIT was discontinued by command. Rescue 3 assisted in overhaul of the garage area. Where the fire was believe to have started. The Onondaga County Fire Investigators complimented the crew from MCFD on how through we are at overhaul and that we preserved what is thought to be the area of origin well.
Rescue 3 and Car 2 went back in service at approx. 1830 hrs.
