The Moyers Corners Fire Department, with the help of several mutual aid departments, responded to a reported fire at the Village Highlands Townhouses on Avon Parkway in the Battalion 2 response area. Department Chief Chet Fritz had the command. The fire was caused by workers trying to thaw out water pipes using a blow torch. Extensive truck work and a well coordinated interior attack kept this fire from spreading past Apartment 4. The fire originally started in Apartment 2. The fire advanced down the cock-loft and was eventually stopped by multiple trench and roof cuts. This bitter cold day did not keep the MCFD from making a great stop of the fire.
