The Moyers Corners Fire Department was alerted to a structure fire at the residence of 37 Bayberry Circle. Initial reports from dispatch indicated multiple callers advising flames showing and people trapped on the second floor. Car 4 [Chief Crispin] arrived minutes after dispatch and confirmed the initial report of fire showing and residents still trapped on the second floor. Chief Crispin immediately began assisting deputies from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department with removing victims from the second floor via a borrowed ladder from a neighbor. A minute later BC1 [Chief Zaferakis] and Engine 21 [Lt. Hoosock] arrived. BC1 covered the operations sector while Engine 21 secured a water supply and took an attack line through the front door until losing their handline due to a downed power line on their engine. Car 3 [Chief Stevens] arrived and established command. Engine 41 [Lt. Beardsly] arrived a minute later securing it’s own water source, and multiple handlines were then pulled off their engine. Engines 21 and 41 mounted an aggressive interior attack while Rescue 4 [Lt. Watson] assisted with initial fire suppression. Engine 31 [Capt. Lyons] arrived and stretched a two and a half inch handline while Rescue 3 [Lt. Wisely]covered the RIT assignment. FF Steve Wisely was then assigned to the safety officer position. Ladder 1 [Lt. Schweitzer] laddered the building, secured utilities, provided scene lighting, and assisted with a secondary search of the residence. Attack crews were able to extinguish the fire on the first floor, and were just at the top of the stairs when they were pulled out due to rapidly deteriorating conditions on the second floor. After a brief exterior attack, crews went back in to attack the remaining fire on the second floor. The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes. Additional crews from Liverpool FD and North Syracuse FD helped with overhaul. Three deputies and four civilians were transported via NOVA ambulance to area hospitals.
