The Moyers Corners Fire Department was alerted to a reported structure fire at 10 Blueberry Road, in the station two response area. Fire Control had received numerous calls on this alarm. Car 2 [DC Perkins] arrived within three minutes and advised fire control he had fire showing from multiple windows on the second floor of the residence. He then struck a "Signal99". Car 4 [DC Crispin] arrived with Car 2 and assumed interior operations. Engine-21 [Lt. Hoosock] arrived and secured a hydrant prior to making an aggressive interior attack. Truck-2 [Capt. Zevotek] split his crew upon arrival and quickly made multiple ventilation holes in the roof while the rest of the truck crew threw ground ladders. Car 3 [DC Stevens] assumed the safety officer position. Engine 41 [Lt. Goodson] pulled a second handline off Engine-21 and assisted the Engine 21 crew with fire extinguishment on the second floor. Rescue 3 [Capt Lyons] assisted the truck company on the roof, and Engine 31 [Lt. Montague] brought a third handline into the residence. Battalion 1 [BC Zaferakis] arrived and assisted with interior operations. Also operating on scene were Rescue 4 [Capt Zeppetello] covering the RIT sector and Ladder 1 [Lt. Schweitzer] who headed up the large overhaul operation. Engine 11 [FF Stachurski] was in staging and eventually relocated to Station 4 as a standby crew. The fire was knocked down in approximately 15 minutes. The scene was subsequently turned over to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department and Fire Investigation Unit. All Moyers Corners units were in service by midnight. A fine example of teamwork was demonstrated by MCFD crews working on the scene which led to a successful and safe operation. The Belgium Cold Springs Fire Department, Clay Fire Department, Liverpool Fire Department, and North Syracuse Fire Department were moved in to cover all four MCFD firehouses. NOVA Ambulance stood by on the scene.
