Nov 18, 2011 - 07:21 pm

In a letter from Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh:

I am proud to present the Moyers Corners Fire Department with the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office Civilian Recognition Award. This award is designed to honor those who respond to the needs of our community by unselfishly serving to benefit others.

On November 19, 2010, nineteen year old Jenni-Lyn Watson was reported missing by her family. The college student, home for the Thanksgiving break, would soon capture the hearts and prayers of an entire community. The Moyers Corners Fire Department immediately realized that search efforts for Jenni-Lyn would require an unparalleled level of logistical support and offered the use of Station 3. For eight days your department provided and maintained the facility, which served as the command center of operations for hundreds of people searching for Jenni-Lyn.

I personnaly with to thank the members of the Moyers Corners Fire Department for your generosity and commitment to the community. It is my pleasure to present you with the Sheriff’s Office Community Service Award.

Sincerely,

Kevin E. Walsh

Sheriff
