Structure Fire on Ilex Lane

Moyers Corners Fire Department was alerted to a possible structure fire on Ilex Lane in the Station 2 response area. A passerby noticed smoke and flames coming from the residence. Car 3 [Chief Crispin] arrived first and reported heavy smoke showing. Liverpool Car 2 [Chief Ormsby] arrived and took the command. Engine 21 [FF D. Izzo] was first due, brought in a hydrant, and prepared for an interior attack. Car 4 [Chief Zaferakis] and Battalion 1 [Chief Bailey] arrived shortly after Engine 21. Car 4 took safety officer while Battalion 1 assisted. After Car 3 forced entry into the two doors in the front of the structure, Engine 21 made the attack on the fire located on the first floor. Engine 41 [FF Sears] prepared to bring in a second hydrant and backed up Engine 21's crew. Truck 2 [FF Harris] assisted with ventilation. Engine 31 [FF Dembowski] and Rescue 3 [FF Race] performed searches of the residence and assisted with overhaul. Ladder 1 [Lt. Delong] also assisted with search and ventilation. The fire was extinguished in under ten minutes and kept to the room of origin. Great job to all the crews working on the scene. The aggressive and coordinated attack minimized damage to the structure and kept the fire at bay.
